How to stop playing those games we can never win

Have you ever caught yourself playing a game where no matter what you do, you will lose? I think that we often do this in our personal lives but don’t realize it’s a game until it’s too late. Today I share a recent experience that reminded me how to stop myself from experiencing pain and creating pain for others through playing games that I cannot win.

Bern, there is SUCH truth to ego's love of the game! The word that kept coming up for me when I was watching this was "ROLE." - what role have we taken on here, and how can we shine light on it?  The role I find my ego wanting to step into more often than not is that of "the misunderstood loner."

It comes up for me less and less these days as I've really embraced the power of love and consciously chosen to let go of that outdated thinking!

Happily, by doing so, I attract more beautiful souls such as yourself who remind me that indeed, playing that role and that game is truly a choice that I am empowered to make (or not make).

Thank you for being so authentic my friend and for bringing such clarity to your life and to the lives of others!

Hey Bern!

Yesterday I had the hugest shift about something that I'd been "playing a game with" for almost 2 years without even realizing what I was doing. I cried I was so happy. I couldn't believe that I was actually able to see the mindset I'd had and that I'd been a willing participant in my "misery", and when I stopped, it was over. It was miraculous. Nothing, absolutely nothing had changed except my perception. I'd never considered being able to live with the truth of a situation (joyfully) without feeling like I was agreeing, being a hypocrite, or settling for less than what I wanted. But I am! Because I stopped engaging in the negative talk in my head, etc. So much to say!! Sorry to go on. Just wanted to say, I get it!

@CrossBetsy Dear friend, I love it! and the interesting thing is this is something that sometimes we need to awaken to multiple times in multiple situations but the fact you did it in an important area of your life will immediately make it easier to see the same truth in other areas that need might need awakening. Thank you for sharing this Betsy, Sending love your way.

This is a great reminder of how easy it is to get caught up in "the game." I love your personal story and that you are encouraging us to make it easy to recognize and "just stop it." We will recognize the game sometimes. And sometimes not. But - either way - our commitment to being honest with ourselves and others is the most important thing. Thanks, Bern. Much love to you.

@lcalandrella My dearest friend Laura, Thank you for listening with your heart and for your kind words. I think being honest with ourselves is not as easy as we'd like but in the end realizing how absurd some of the things we do, are liberates us to get what we really want. You are someone I recognize as incredibly truthful and honest so I feel honored by your words. LOVE YOU mucho my friend!
