How to Be Abundance

I hear a lot of talk about “attracting abundance” into our lives, and I love the intent behind it. Today I want to talk about how to be abundance in a practical, immediate and easy way starting today.

Bern, I love this.

So often our ego creates this myth that everything we could possibly want or need is OUTSIDE of ourselves, but this is another great reminder that Abundance (like everything else we seek) is already INSIDE when we simply choose to recognize it. Abundance is a state of mind, and one of the ways I choose to remind myself that I already am is to carry around a $100 bill in my wallet, simply as a real visual reminder that it is already mine, and I'm never without. Since I began this practice, many of my money "worries" faded away and transformed into the vaporous illusions that worries really are.

Gratitude is such a powerful force. It changes how we feel. It helps shift our focus from ourselves to others and the wider world. When we feel grateful for something, it's often in comparison to not having that something ... which leads to thinking about others who may not be as fortunate. For example, I'm working from my home office today with noisy roofers over my head and a plumber in the basement ripping out the boiler because it died the other night (leaving me with no heat). Some might say that's a pretty crappy situation, but I feel so fortunate. I am fortunate to have a roof over my head when so many people don't. I am fortunate that I have a caring boyfriend who loaned me an electric heater that's keeping my office at a tolerable temperature. I am fortunate that my landlord is having the roof and boiler repaired. I am fortunate that I'm able to work from home. I'm lucky that I have a warm, fleece jacket to wear.

SO many things to be thankful for, it's almost embarrassing.

When we can feel our gratitude in the context of the bigger picture - not just our picture, but the picture of everyone in the world around us - we can't help but reach out to others ... to help, to comfort, to try and lift them up to a place where they can feel as lucky as we do.

So gratitude leads to giving and giving, I think, leads to abundance on both sides. Call it karma, call it whatever you like - but there's a power there that can't be denied.

Thanks for inviting me to step out of my work-mind for a moment, Bernardo. Always feels good to think about bigger things at the start of my day. :)

@suddenlyjamie Wow Jamie, you have a way to always bring light to my life. It's not just how beautifully you write but the depth of how you take a concept and make it your own and live it, wow. I'm thankful that you are centered on gratitude, on thanking the universe for supporting your path and on using this magic that comes about as a result form your gratitude as fuel to infuse it on others. You do it through you caring smile, through your awesome blog, through your beautiful supportive words and through your light and radiance.

Thank you so much for always being an example of possibility and for having the energy to apply what you learn to create a more exciting life.

Sending you love and hoping your heater is fixed really soon.

@yourgreatlifetv :)

Thanks, Bernardo. The plumber made great progress on the boiler today, so heat will be coming in the next few days. In the meantime, we're enjoying the cozy fire and sleeping all together in one, big bed!

Thanks Bern. As always you hit the nail right on the head. I love how you used the example of finding a penny on the street... There have been many times that I've been overjoyed to find a penny and people that were with me said, "Don't pick that up. It's dirty." So  not only do we need to reexamine how we think about money (and the lack of it) but also praise and thank the small stuff when it shows up. There are diamonds inside us that are just waiting to be found and revealed. Thanks friend!
